A Hopi canteen by Bobby Silas. 4 by 7 inches. $300

Both canteens are from the 1960s and unsigned. The one at right is definitely from Acoma while the other could very possibly be by a potter from Laguna, so we are trying to research that.It is likely by one of the Cheromiah family. The one at left measures 6 inches high by 5.25 inches high; SOLD The one with Parrot motif is 7.25 inches high by 7 inches wide; $275.

This effigy canteen was made by Barbara Johnson (1923-1997) a member of the Xalychidom Piipaash (Maricoa) tribe. She learned from her nother, Mabel Sunn, and was the last to make very large jars. The photo is of her with her grand-daughter Teya Johnson-Tiger. 8 inches tall and 6 inches across. $450.
